Laugh off your day at Good Good Comedy, located in Chinatown between 11th and Race st., as the theater is dishing out up to four shows a night, seven days a week. In a cozy black box theater, Good Good Comedy Theater is the perfect setting to share a hearty, intimate laugh ranging from stand-up, storying telling, improv, sketch and everything in between. Check out one of their shows that has gained popularity, Weeding Out The Stoned. In this show, 16 comedians enter and all but one is stoned. It is the audience’s job to discover the one sober individual through a series of sobriety tests. “The Game Show of Sobriety Tests”, come and guess who’s sober.
Joining the Fishtown scene is Punch Line, situated next to The Fillmore. Punch Line Philly is a bar and restaurant, but most importantly it is a comedy club. Punch Line Philly joins an esteemed band of Punch Line venues across the nation, few have hosted some of the best in the business such as Robin Williams and Ellen DeGeneres.
On August 10th-12th, Gina Yashere takes the Punch Line’s stage. A retired elevator engineer, Gina began performing stand up in the UK and broke into the U.S. comedy scene on NBC’s Last Comic Standing. Gina is brilliantly funny and it is no surprise that she won “Best Comedian” at the recent Black Entertainment & Comedy Awards (UK) for the 4th time in a row. Ten years after wrapping their, TV show, Great Job! Tim and Eric are taking the stage again on their 10 Year Anniversary Awesome tour, July 20th at the Merriam Theater. Their sketch show, Good Job! introduced their anti-comedy skits and fake commercials. After ending in 2010, they pursued separate endeavors. Yet, Tim and Eric are reuniting their anti-comedy humor on tour. Check out this duo’s oddball sense of humor on July 20th at the Merriam Theater.
After wrapping his broadway show, Oh Hello, John Mulaney is hitting the stage again with his hilarious observational humor and knack for storytelling. A few years ago, Mulaney was known as the new kid on the comedic block, but that is not the case as a current Emmy winner. Mulaney has definitely found a groove as he resonates with his generation, echoing his generation through the various tribulations and uncertainties any young person faces upon entering adulthood.
