Industry night goes to the next level with the first Bartenders Ball in Philly. It’s set for Monday, February 20th, at the multi-level Voyeur nightclub at 13th and Locust.
Everyone is invited, but the hospitality crowd will likely have the most fun mixing and mingling with fellow bartenders and other restaurant folks. Plus, it’s a fundraiser: The Bartenders Ball is hosted by the Philadelphia Licensed Beverage Association (the local chapter of the Pennsylvania Licensed Beverage & Tavern Association), which works to make sure tavern owners’ voices are heard when it comes to making government decisions that affect them. Proceeds from the event will go towards that mission.
If you’re a member of the association, your ticket is only $40. If you’re in the industry but not a member, you’ll pay $60, and it’s $80 for general admission, though those tickets are limited. Don’t wait, because there’s a buy one, get one Valentine’s Day special good now through midnight on February 14th.
The organizers are expecting a few hundred people to come out, and dress is casual.
Lou Capozzoli of Ray’s Happy Birthday Bar will be honored with a Lifetime Bartending Award at the party, and his band, Rage Band, will be providing the music. The food is from Fergie’s Pub, Good Dog Bar, South Philly Tap Room, American Sardine Bar and Nodding Head and, of course, there will be plenty to drink. Jim Beam, Effen Vodka and Hornitos are the liquor sponsors.
