Who’s ready to let the funk out? Saturday night at the sold out Fillmore Philadelphia is sure to be one to remember when Dominic Lalli and Jeremy Salken bring down the funk. Big Gigantic is a livetronic group based out of Boulder, Colorado. While Dom plays the saxophone and handles all the mixing, Jeremy is throwing it down on the drums. The two combine to bring a truly remarkable live performance filled with hip-hop, jazz and bass.
Big Gigantic has been a staple act in the electronic industry since 2009. In a congested genre, filled with a bunch of DJs labeled simply as “button pushers”. Big G’s uniqueness has stuck out. DJ live shows, were a rarity, especially to include the use of live instruments rather than a beat pad. Slowly, the group began gaining its popularity through their own distinctive formula. Infusing jazz, hip-hop, dubstep and bass into one while performing everything live, right in front of your eyes. The recipe for success had been born and Big G was becoming a massive hit.
In 2014, the group began to really take off with their extremely popular album, The Night Is Young. With hits like “Touch the Sky” and “The Night is Young”, the pair was becoming one of the hottest acts. Hitting the festival circuit and touring in 2015 was a chance for the group to truly showcase their live capabilities to the masses of fans. They didn’t miss a beat as the duo’s popularity only continued to soar.
Settling down the past year, the group used the time off to finish the release of their 6th studio album, Brighter Future. Brighter Future is by far the group’s most prestigious work to date as it fully encompasses the wide array of sounds in Big G’s repertoire. The album is packed with big time features such as GRiZ, Logic, ROZES, Waka Flocka Flame and many more. In some of the darkest times our country has seen in a while, Big Gigantic is certainly helping us all strive towards a better future. With uplifting, funky tunes, this group will have the Fillmore vibing out for days to come.
