What began as Celtic Thunder’s Neil Byrne and Ryan Kelly performing a series of shows together called ‘Acoustic By Candlelight’ a few years ago has turned into what is now known as Byrne and Kelly. Driven by vocal harmonies, the duo seamlessly dives into combining genres like traditional Irish and Americana to create a fresh, folk sound. In 2013, Byrne and Kelly was awarded ‘Best Duo in a Concert, Pub or Festival’ and ‘Best New Album’ for Acoustically Irish by the Irish Music Association. In addition, Acoustically Irish took the Bilboard #1 position, World Album #1 on iTunes in the United States, Australia and Canada, Amazon World Album #1 and cdbaby Global Chart #1. The duo’s second album release, Live in Australia, was recorded live at The Vanguard in Sydney, Australia in June of 2014. Following the release later in the year, Live in Australia quickly became the #1 World album on Billboard, iTunes, Amazon and CD Baby. Joined by musicians Nicole Hudson on fiddle and Peter Sheridan on mandolin and keyboard, the foursome are currently writing and recording original music for their third album which will be released later in 2015.

You’re not alone if your first thought when you hear “rosé” is of white zinfandel, that super sweet blush juice which dominated the box-format wine market for years. However, the style and technique of rosé goes way beyond that. In fact, pink wine ranges from bone-dry to sugary sweet, and from the most transparent hue of ruby on up to a saturated, opaque crimson. Rosé is at least as diverse in style as white and red wines, and definitely more colorful.
Within the past years, the American market for all styles of rosé has exploded. More frequently we are choosing rosé as a table wine, or as a perfect dinner pairing. New to Pinot’s Saturday classes, we’ll be exploring the various ways rosé is produced, the many appearances and flavors it can assume, and why more and more Americans have fallen for this love-able libation.
