I scream, you scream, we all scream for… video games?
Local Philadelphians and childhood friends, Chris Maguire and Steve “Shef” Wright Jr., are now co-owners of the newest ice cream parlor in Manayunk. Tubby Robot Ice Cream Factory uniquely combines ice cream and video games. Opened for a mere four months, Tubby Robot is redefining the typical ice cream parlor. This oddball combination is making an impact with locals in the flourishing streets of Manayunk.
Part One: The Ice Cream
Tubby Robot hand makes their ice cream in house from local ingredients to ensure the highest quality results. Check out their chocolate covered strawberry or lavender honey for something different. Look out for their scrumptious sundaes if you are in the mood for something extra sweet!
Part Two: The Games
The factory engineered a system that allows for the exterior display to lie on the wall — aptly named Wall-O-Vision. While enjoying a scoop, or two, of housemade ice cream, you can also engage with one their inventive joysticks to amuse yourself with a video game that will remind you of your childhood. With two screens and four controllers, players can go head-to-head in a sweet competition. Everyone wins at Tubby Robot Ice Cream Factory.
Opened since March 19th, Chris and Steve were interviewed by Manayunk Magazine for the Summer edition. Tubby Robot has made a splash in Manayunk offering something different to the ice cream experience.
